Leptospirosis or Weil’s Disease
A disease carried by rats. Any infection with the leptospira bacterium is called 'leptospirosis'.
The main routes for any bacteria to enter a human are through eating or drinking, breathing or through broken skin so wash your hands.
Almost every 'routine' disinfection method will kill the bacteria.
Leptospirosis
Early symptoms are similar to the flu - fever, chills, muscular aches and pains, loss of appetite, and nausea when lying down.
Later symptoms include bruising of the skin, anaemia, sore eyes, nose bleeds and jaundice. The fever lasts for approximately five days, then a significant deterioration follows.
You must see your doctor if you think you may be infected. Early treatment is vital. Fire Safety
